Hi! I’m Phil.
I’m a video and media professional with over twenty years of experience. I’m looking to start the second half of my career at a place where I can share messages I believe in with the world. I pride myself on being a collaborative leader while also able to deliver independently, demonstrating creativity both in bringing messages to the screen and in strategic problem solving.
I’m client- and message-focused.
My goal is to work with clients to understand their message and find great ways to deliver it to the audience that matters. I’m able to take complex or technical information and present it in ways that are easy to understand. I’m detail and result oriented and that shows in the projects I’ve worked on.
Work Experience
The majority of my career has been at Lakeland Community College where I spent twenty years as a Video Producer. In that role I developed my passion for creating and delivering messages that matter. Sharing the great work that happens at Lakeland with the world was one of my favorite things.
I also developed curriculum and taught in Lakeland’s Media Technology program. Over the years, I’ve instructed each of the four video production courses, including the capstone, as well as the scriptwriting and compositing courses. Mentoring media students and watching them progress has been a source of pride for me.
I’m a leader and a team member.
I work well in a diverse team of media professionals and other stakeholders. I take responsibility and direction and can meet expectations and tight deadlines. I will also take leadership roles and can delegate and manage tasks to deliver projects on time and on budget.
Technical Skills
I can (and will) list a dozen pieces of software and cameras I use or have used in the past; however, I believe that the skill is not in knowing an app, it’s in knowing the art. I am certain that I can learn any piece of editing software because I already know how to edit. It’s not the brush you use that is important, it’s the painting that you have at the end.
I am quick to grasp new concepts and technologies. Media is a constantly evolving landscape and my approaches evolve to match what audiences expect to see and deliver where they consume media.
Everyone loves a list!
